Grey’s Anatomy Cast Joins Picket Line

People magazine reports that the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” hit the picket lines in support of the writer’s strike on Wednesday. Instead of taking a lunch break, the actors grabbed picket signs for the cause and joined the strikers in front of Prospect Studios in Los Angeles.

Dressed in their “Grey’s Anatomy” scrubs, Katherine Heigl, T.R. Knight, Sandra Oh, Sara Ramirez, Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers, Eric Dane and James Pickens Jr. stood side by side with the people who make the show possible.

“We’re supposed to be going until the end of May and right now our last shooting day will be Tuesday or Wednesday,” Knight told the Associated Press. “As actors, we’re paid a different way than the writers, but there’s also the crew to keep in mind. They are out of work as of next Wednesday.”

“The writers are everything” said Emmy winner Heigl. “We can’t do it without them.” Dempsey concurred; “The writers deserve a better break on the deals they’ve been getting.”

A lot of attention has been brought to the writer’s strike. If more actors join in the fight their presence can only help this ordeal come to a satisfying resolution for all. Actors, crews, directors, producers and so many other important members of the television family are now beginning to be feel the impact of the strike and its importance for all aspects of production.
