Wino’s Hubby in Deep Ish

London police carted away Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, yesterday as the singer, “Baby, I love you. Baby, I’ll be fine!” Eight officers took him to the police station while Amy begged them to allow her to go with him.

Amy has good reason to be worried: Blake is accused of attempting to fix his upcoming assault trial by offering witnesses $400,000 not to testify in his trial next week. If convicted, Blake will face life in jail.

Sources tipped off police yesterday, who battered down the couple’s door in London in an attempt to find evidence against Blake.

Detectives had been tipped off by the Mirror to an astonishing alleged plot to halt a trial in which Fielder-Civil and pal Michael Brown are accused of assaulting a barman causing GBH with intent. It is claimed £200,000 would have been paid to alleged victim James King to withdraw his police statement.

He would also be flown out of the country before the hearing in the hope that the case against Fielder-Civil, 25, and Brown - due on on Monday - would eventually collapse.

As part of our investigation King, who needed metal plates fitted in his face, was filmed withdrawing his allegations about the assault.

Amy was not filmed at meetings observed by the Mirror and there is no evidence to suggest she was involved in the alleged plot. But police, who raided her home yesterday in an attempt to gather evidence of the claimed plot, will wish to see whether she can help.

Amy was said to be desperately worried that her husband could receive a lengthy jail sentence if convicted.

As two officers guarded the front door of her home, a Met spokesman said: “We’re grateful to the Mirror for bringing a very serious allegation of crime to our attention. A thorough investigation is being carried out into claims of conspiracy to pervert justice in connection with a trial. Three men have been arrested and are being questioned. We’re expecting to make further arrests.”

The alleged conspiracy emerged after two men named Ant and Jay contacted the Mirror on October 25 claiming they had CCTV footage of the alleged attack on King by Fielder-Civil and Brown.

We met them in a pub in Highgate, North London, and they showed us images on a laptop computer.

At a further meeting at Canary Wharf, East London, on October 29 unshaven Ant, who has the name of his daughter tattooed on his neck, blurted out details of what he claimed was the “bigger picture.”

He alleged he and Jay were to be paid for organising a deal between King and his claimed attackers and for “babysitting” King overseas until the trial was dropped.

Later, the Mirror placed covert cameras and audio equipment in Ant’s flat in Barnet, Herts.

King was filmed claiming that he would withdraw his court statement concerning the alleged attack on him as soon as £200,000 plus £10,000 costs was put into his account.

He also claimed he was flexible about when they would fly abroad, saying: “Well we can go either on the Sunday or on the day of the trial. I mean what do they want?”

After a number of phone calls and one cancelled meeting, a gathering was arranged amid incredible secrecy around the back of the Endeavour pub in Soho on November 5.

Attending were Ant, Jay, Brown and Fielder-Civil, and a pal.

Brown, wearing a beige anorak, was filmed expressing concern about the wording of King’s statement withdrawing his earlier account of the alleged pub attack.

Stroking his hair and holding a pint, he was filmed saying: “It needs to say ‘I no longer want to go to court…this is totally myself. To whom it may concern at the CPS…I’m acting under no duress’.”

He added of King: “We can’t let the people he’s living with know where he’s going. Don’t let anyone know.”

He then allegedly said: “There’s a possibility of a five-day adjournment so we don’t want him back until the following Monday. We want two weeks from here. And that gives us lots of time.

“My barrister has been saying it’s going to be a 24-hour adjournment. But if the judge says ‘I want you back here next Monday’ he needs to be out the country and gone until the Wednesday or Thursday.”

Fielder-Civil, wearing a trilby hat, is then seen saying they need to know it is the real James King making the new statement before they pay up.

After a brief discussion, Brown is filmed claiming: “It’s up to Blake…he’s paying the thing… I want it all done nice and smooth.”" They then allegedly agree that Ant and Jay will go and film King making his statement.

A few hours later King is filmed holding a piece of paper, and declaring: “Fifth November 2007, I James King hereby without pressure or duress wish to withdraw any legal statement previously made or written concerning the arrest of Blake Fielder-Civil and Michael Brown over the GBH charges relating to my injuries. I have no intention of going to court or helping any further. I feel this is in the best interests of mine and my family’s safety.”

The two men then have a further meeting in Winehouse and Fielder-Civil’s favourite pub, the Hawley Arms in Camden.

More footage shows the group laughing and joking and looking at a mobile phone with video images of King’s alleged statement. Fielder Civil is filmed allegedly chatting about the deal and what might or might not go wrong.

One of the men insists on needing £5,000 spending money to babysit King when they are in Marbella.

Fielder-Civil replies: “I’ve got no problem with that.”

The man continues: “You can watch us get on the plane. Cough up the tickets and a little bit of spending money, and when I come back…the rest of my money is there and everyone is sweet.”"

Brown says he is going to disappear for a month or two after the trial collapses until things settle down.

Fielder-Civil says of King: “That’s all that’s got to happen, him just not show up… we just have to keep our hands clean.”

After gathering our evidence, the Mirror spoke to the police and handed over our detailed dossier. On Wednesday night, we learned that one of the men claimed he had met Fielder-Civil in Quinns pub in Camden and received £5,000 spending money for the overseas trip.

The flight tickets from London to Marbella were due to be booked yesterday. But in amazing scenes at Canary Wharf Ant and Jay were arrested by police outside the Slug & Lettuce pub.

A friend of the two men was also held. He was also due to accompany the party overseas.

Fielder-Civil is due in Snaresbrook crown court, East London, with Brown on Monday.

For the tl;dr crowd: Blake is seriously screwed.
