Dixie Chicks sweep the Grammys

It was a night of vindication for the Dixie Chicks at Sunday's 49th annual Grammy Awards. The group won in each of the five categories in which they were nominated. Their biggest wins were for album, song and record of the year.

In recent years, the Dixie Chicks have been slammed for their outspoken politics and they were clearly pleased that their detractors had not kept them from winning last night. At one point, lead singer Natalie Maines even quoted Nelson of "The Simpsons," telling her critics, "Ha-ha."

Also taking home multiple awards were the Red Hot Chili Peppers (with four), Justin Timberlake (with two), Carrie Underwood (with two) and Mary J. Blige (with three). The Peppers won Best Rock Album, Timberlake won Best Dance Recording, Underwood was named Best New Artist and Blige won Best R&B Album. All four acts performed during the show as well.
