The 30-year-old actress, who played murderer Tracy Barlow on the ITV soap, and her husband Jon Connerty, 29, are said to be "over the moon".
Brunette Kate has told pals she can't wait to be a mum.
A family friend said: "Both Kate and Jon are so excited, neither can stop smiling.
"It has happened a lot quicker than they anticipated. They are looking forward to their new addition to the family."
Kate and TV producer Jon, who live in London, wed last month in the Lake District after dating for a year.
