American Idol Alums Win Big At AMAs

It looks like Simon Cowell’s “You’re going to Hollywood” during American Idol tryouts could also mean “You’re gonna get a crapload of American Music Awards!”

Last night at the AMA’s, American Idols took home the lion’s share of trophies, and both Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry were surprised and overwhelmed at their respective levels of success.

The “Before He Cheats” singer, 2005’s Idol winner, had her hands full of awards, totaling three in all.

And Chris Daughtry, a finalist in 2006, matched Underwood’s three awards.  What’s even crazier is that he beat out Justin Timberlake for Favorite Pop-Rock Album.

Additionally, he took home awards for Breakthrough Artist and Adult Contemporary Artist (beating out John Mayer of all people!) Chris told press, “The show [Idol] didn’t make me who I am.  It just gave me a chance to show everybody else who I am.”
