Johnny Depp: Great Actor, Playing A Murderous Barber, Unusual Sense Of Style

Here's pics of Johnny Depp doing the press junket thing to promote his new flick "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street". For those of you unfamiliar with "Sweeney", it's about a psychotic barber in Victorian-era London who slashes the throats of his customers and lets the lady downstairs make meat pies out of the bodies. Oh, and it's a musical. But don't go expecting any Disney power ballads for the kiddies. Tim Burton directed the film adaption. I just saw a production of it here in Boston and it was crazy. The actors also played all the instruments. Imagine you go to an audtion and they're like, you did well but can you play the clarinet and tuba? Damn! And sing? Theatrical multi-tasking. It's a hot show, and hopefully Johnny can pull it off. About having to sing he says, "I've never tried karaoke. It scares the hell out of me. I've never been that drunk - and I've been drunk.Tim said he didn't know if I could sing and, likewise, I didn't know if I could sing." Depp went onto say that Tim Burton approved the demos and he was good to go. Tim Burton's baby oven Helena Bonham Carter plays the equally deranged Mrs. Lovett, maker of man pies. So it's basically the gothiest trio possible running this show. So, tt's probably in good hands.
