We don’t get why the rich and famous are continually being nabbed for DUIs. If we had as much money as celebrities, we’d spring for a driver to haul us around town. Especially if we lived in a car-unfriendly city like New York. But, for some reason, that logic didn’t stop comic Tracy Morgan and professional partier Fabian Basabe from drinking and driving.
Tracy and Fabian were each caught driving under the influence back in November and recently stood trial for their misdeeds. Tracy received a $1,000 fine, some sort of rehab, community service, and a six-month driving suspension. Fabian was fined $575…which seems like a total slap on the wrist in comparison to Tracy’s bevy of repentant duties. Not to mention the fact that he endangered a bunch of people’s lives by being on the road drunk (a bunch of old, rich people’s lives, considering he was nabbed in Central Park West).
Pretty juicy – if unfortunate – gossip, right? Wanna know the scoop behind the scoop, though?
Seems that the gossip king who got wind of the celebrities’ DUI deals had more in common with the subjects of his story than he would probably like to admit. Page Six editor Richard Johnson, also a New York fixture, happened to get the lowdown on the courtroom action because he was reporting to court himself…for his own recent DUI. Richard was caught drunk at the wheel of his Ford Escape back in June and is being charged with a misdemeanor and a traffic violation (the car was parked, otherwise it might’ve been a felony).
Now, isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black…er, drunk?
