Maddona is defending her charity after reports surfaced that she tricked the likes of Gucci into giving money to Kabbalah under the guise of supporting Malawian children. Gucci is still footing the bill to a lavish Feb. 6 fund raiser for the charity with A-list guests like Sarah Jessica Parker and Salma Hayek.
The Raising Malawi organization was co-founded by Madonna and Michael Berg, who is one of the spearheading executives of the L.A. Kabbalah organization. It seems that Raising Malawi is in fact a branch of the L.A. Kabbalah organiztion - much easier to raise money for impoverished children than for an esoteric and mystical study of a branch of Judaism rooted in medieval times. Raising Malawi, which the pop superstar started after adopting David Banda from the country in 2006, has paid for Malawian teachers to be trained in Kabbalah. Give me a break.
