Heath Ledger's Uncles: He Wouldn't Have Done Anything Irresponsible

Heath Ledger's death was "a tragic accident," his uncles said on CBS' Early Show this morning.

When asked whether the actor might have done something "irresponsible," Haydn Ledger said, "It just wouldn't come into the equation at all."

Speaking from the actor's hometown of Perth, Australia, Haydn was interviewed, along with Ledger's other uncle, Mike.

Both deflected a question about their nephew being depressed, saying that should be left to his parents to address.

"It's certainly, as far as we're concerned, a tragic accident and death," Haydn Ledger said.

Citing police sources, the Associated Press is reporting that six prescription drugs, including anti-anxiety medications and sleeping pills, were found at the time of the actor's death.

Police sources confirm to Usmagazine.com that all the prescription drugs were in Ledger's name and that they confiscated the prescribed sleeping aid Ambien. Ledger had talked recently about how he suffered from insomnia.

Ledger's initial autopsy results were inconclusive. It will take about 10 days to complete the investigation, the medical examiner says.

  • So sad, he was such a talented young actor and will be missed. Just goes to show that money isn't everything, depression can hit anybody, its a real illness, along with the anxiety he had. I feel for his family and daughter. RIP Heath.
