Johnny Depp to replace late Heath Ledger

The tragic demise of Heath Ledger is a terrible blow to all involved with the movies. But as they say, the show must go on. Rumor has it that Johnny Depp has been asked to stand-in for Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – Heath Ledger’s project which was just 6 weeks away from completion.

It is reported that Terry Gilliman, director of the movie has asked Depp himself to do so. A studio source says:

There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in. It’s a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath’s character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment.

Both Johnny and Heath are known perfectionists in the industry so everybody is preying that he agrees to do the thing. It is a sad fact that they have to deal with this so soon but if anyone, it should be Johnny.
