With $41 million in ticket sales, Cloverfield celebrated a record opening for January, displacing 1997’s Star Wars Special Edition. But packed theaters aren’t the only thing unique about Cloverfield: people are hurling in record numbers.
Blame the storyline jumpy camera work. In fact AMC theaters are posting signs for Cloverfield’s potential audience, warning of “side effects associated with motion sickness similar to riding a roller-coaster."
According to CNN, experts are suggesting Dramamine to counter the movie’s dizzying effects of vertigo, which can sometimes result when visual images promote a sensation of movement. Another helpful Cloverfield survival tip from Ear Nose and Throat specialist Dr. Michael G. Stewart: close your eyes.
