Grey's Anatomy actor Justin Chambers checked into hospital suffering from exhaustion earlier this week.

Chambers, 37, who plays Dr Alex Karev in the hit medical drama, was admitted to the psychiatric ward at the UCLA medical centre on Monday.

His spokesperson told TMZ that he went to the hospital "voluntarily to get some help" because he was "exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder".

He checked out of the facility on Wednesday - apparently he left just before the arrival of Britney Spears.
