Well, maybe the New York Post reported the news first, but Escada certainly widened the audience for Individuals That Can Raise Their Hand When Asked if They Were Informed About Naomi Watts’ Pregnancy.
What could be more practical than having one’s designer announce the expectation of their child?
Probably anything.
Unfortunately for Naomi, who has been keeping quiet about the proceedings, Escada did just that, in their press release which stated, “The Escada gown sets off her most precious new asset – the baby she is expecting.”
Thanks, Escada. We’re sure there would be no more delicate way to break the news. Still, this brings about an important point. Did Naomi tell Escada? If she was being so careful not to tell anyone, why wouldn’t she keep trying to play off her belly bump? Would Naomi really have said, Oh, yes, I want a dress that will show off the fetus stirring in my stomach; do you think you could swing that?
Sauntering down the red carpet with Nicole Kidman, not baby daddy/boyfriend Liev Schreiber, Naomi refused to comment on the press release that got distributed to such stations as E!
So while we may be, officially still in the dark about the baby, we do know this: The likelihood of Naomi ever working with Escada again, or at least revealing secrets to them, is pretty unlikely.
And could anyone blame her?
