Denzel Washington and Alicia Keys Win Big at the NAACP Image Awards

Denzel Washington earned some major recognition last night for "The Great Debators." Washington starred in and directed the film, that was awarded four prizes at the NAACP Image Awards, one of which was the award for best motion picture. ABC's "Ugly Betty" also did well, with Vanessa Williams winning for outstanding supporting actress and its star, America Ferrera snagging best actress. I am such a raging fan of that show, especially of Vanessa Williams who looks absolutely stunning in these pictures.

Janet Jackson took home an award for supporting actress in Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" and more than anything, I'm happy for Janet because she really does look happy with her man, Jermaine Dupri. At first, I was skeptical of this relationship because, I'm sorry, but he looks a little bit like a weasel, but he seems to be in this for the long haul and she doesn't have to keep this relationship a secret so I'm happy for Ms. Jackson. Yes, I just called that because I'm nasty.

Jordin Sparks won the award for outstanding new artist, while Alicia Keys pretty much swept the rest of the music awards with four wins. Poor Jordin, her album's not really doing all that much. At least she's got this award, right?

19 more photos of the NAACP winners featuring Janet Jackson, Denzel Washington, Ruby Dee, Vanessa Williams, Angelique Kidjo, Hill Harper and Jordin Sparks are after the jump.

  • He's a great actor and great human being. I love just about all of his movies. He does things in them that make you laugh, and sometimes don't even be funny, but it's the way he exspresses himself at that moment. Denzel Washington is a great roll...
