Anthony Anderson, who has appeared on the Law & Order spinoff Special Victims Unit and also starred in the short-lived Fox drama K-Ville, is in talks to replace Martin, the Associated Press reports.
A source tells the AP that Martin’s last show as New York Police Detective Ed Green will air this spring. The episode will explain the departure of his character.
Martin is leaving the show to turn his attention to the big screen.
Filming for his next role is as singer Marvin Gaye in the bio-flick Sexual Healing – co-starring The Sopranos’ James Gandolfini – begins this spring.
Martin also appeared in the movie version of Rent. He was an original cast member in the Broadway production of the play.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are co-hosting this year's Academy Awards. Who do you think will be more entertaining?
Alec Baldwin! Have you seen "30 Rock"? Genius!
Neither...I am not the biggest fan of these guys! Bring back Hugh Jackman!
Steve Martin! I have a feeling he'll bring his banjo!
