Nicole Ritchie hospitalized

Nicole Ritchie was briefly hospitalized for dehydration on Friday after falling ill while filming the new season of her reality show he Simple Life.

According to a source close to Richie, the 25-year-old actress was rushed to the hospital after she started to feel faint and dizzy following 20 hours of filming. The petite star was on call until 2AM , and was required back on the set a few hours later. After a brief rest, Richie was hurried through hair and make-up and was unable to eat due to a tight shooting schedule reports US weekly

According to entertainment website E! Online, she was given intravenous fluids for 15 minutes and then released..

"Nicole has gained weight and is doing really well," says the source. She is proud of that. The producers overreacted--she didn't need to go to the hospital."

Richie announced last October that she was seeking treatment to help her gain weight.

The upcoming season of The Simple Life features Richie and best friend Paris Hilton working as camp counsellors.

Richie's rep issued this statement: "Nicole is home resting and will return to work this evening. We are proud of the weight that Nicole is gaining and her focus on her health."

In other news, Nicole Richie has fueled speculation she is engaged to Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden after she was seen sporting a massive diamond on her wedding finger.

The star stepped out for coffee on Wednesday and was photographed with the large ring on her left hand.

The pair visited Los Angeles jewelry store XIV Karats on February 19 and looked at engagement rings.
