John Mayer Concerned About Us Weekly

The singer tells Best Life magazine his "fear" is that "the girl of his dreams" won't give him a chance "because of something in my past."

"I know how to be a celebrity," he says. "I know how to be a guy on the street. I know how to roll with the punches... And my past is actually pretty sterling."

"But when I think about my [future] wife, I worry," he says. "I worry about what she thinks when she reads about me in Us Weekly. It's all vapor, nothing, ether. But I worry about it. I worry about what she thinks."

This isn't the first time Mayer has obsessed over Us.

Last month he was photographed reading an issue of Us while wearing a one-piece swim suit.

And in an interview airing later this month, Mayer told XM Radio's 20on20, "A celebrity ain’t gonna win this game [with photographers]. George Clooney's not gonna get up on a microphone and hit the perfect combination of words and everyone's going to drop their Us Weeklys and go 'we had no idea.'"

Back in December 2006, Mayer gave then-girlfriend Jessica Simpson a framed copy of Us' cover saying he "dumped" her.
