Alas, I am really not that upset to see the gay former stripper go. The Beatles rhythm just didn’t put the cream in America’s twinkie. On Tuesday a plethora of weak performances left David Hernandez, Kristy Lee Cook and Seyesha Mercado at the bottom three.
Hernandez sang “I Saw Her Standing There” to an audience that was less than impressed. Randy Jackson thought it was “overdone” and Simon hissed “this was verging on desperate.” After Seyesha was cleared of elimination, Kristy and David were left hugging as he fought back tears. He sucked it up and told Seacrest:
“Things happen for a reason. We all have a plan, and on top of that, you know, you’ll see me at the top … this isn’t it for me.”
Even favorite David Archuleta had a terrible week. His voice was lacking his typical bravado during his rendition of “We Can Work It Out.” While the pressure of performing has never seemed to faze him before, another reason for his jitters surfaced.
Jeff Archuleta, David’s father, had reportedly yelled at him for not living up to his standards. After making his son cry during a recording session on Monday, his confidence was shaken. His “stage dad” also had been banned from “Star Search.” When Archuleta was 12 years old Jeff harassed his son’s competition. Tiffany was competing against David and Jeff was kicked off the set for yelling at her and making inappropriate confidence.
