Famous Food

Would you rather eat at an upscale burger joint, a Tex-Mex restaurant, or a traditional Japanese sushi place?  How about if they were called Ketchup, Beso, and Geisha House?  And if you knew they were owned by a whole host of celebrities?

It seems like more and more A-list celebs are getting into the grub game, investing in and running their own restaurants and whole eatery empires.  Take the Dolce Group for example.  Its restaurants include the aforementioned Ketchup and Geisha House, both Hollywood hotspots, as well as the original Dolce restaurant and five other establishments.  And its investors include Ashton Kutcher, Tara Reid, Wilmer Valderama, the Masterson brothers, Jamie Kennedy, Laura Prepon, and a bunch of other famous names.

The latest star-powered restaurant to launch is Eva Longoria's Mexican-themed Beso (it means "kiss" in Spanish).  Eva's latest business venture proves that she's anything but a desperate housewife. She's not the first famous lady to bring her family's food influences to the masses, though.  Jennifer Lopez's Madre's is all about her own grandmother's home cooking.

Of course, the original celebrity restaurant venture was very upfront in exploiting the popularity of its investors.  Planet Hollywood started the trend by cashing in on the famous faces of owners Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Whoopi Goldberg.  Not all big names strike it big in the restaurant industry, however.  Britney Spears's ill-fated Nyla restaurant bombed big time with both critics and diners.

Which celebrity's restaurant would you like to eat at?  Any famous person you'd like to break bread with?
