Keith Richards commends and warns Amy Winehouse at the same time. The Rolling Stones legend says the only modern singer he rates is the 24-year-old "Rehab" singer, but says she needs to get smart or she won't be around for long.

Richards, 64, answers when asked which modern day artist he rates, "There's only one person. That girl Amy."

But with the approval comes the word of advice from the iconic guitarist.

He adds, "Mind you, that girl isn't going to be around long unless she sorts herself out pretty quick. Amy's got to get smart."

"I'm not a preacher. But I've been there and you have to pass it on."

Richards had been linked with charges relating to drug use over the course of his career. He admits to Britain's Mail that the Rolling Stones' music suffered because of their own drug abuse back in 1970's.

He says, "It completely took over our lives creatively and we couldn't do this and couldn't do that. You had to spend all your time trying to deal with the police. The same thing has happened to Amy Winehouse."
