Neil Aspinall Beatles (Fifth Beatle) Dies

The nicknamed “Fifth Beatle”, Neil Aspinall, has died in New York. He was 66.For four decades, Aspinall was the brain behind the Beatles, an accountant, advisor, and even backup vocals on Yellow Submarine.

 

In a statement on behalf of Sir Paul, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, Apple Corps said: “As a loyal friend, confidant and chief executive, Neil’s trusting stewardship and guidance has left a far-reaching legacy for generations to come. All his friends and loved ones will greatly miss him but will always retain the fondest memories of a great man.”

 

Sir Paul McCartney flew to New York this weekend to be by Aspinall’s bedside.
