America's Next Top Model?

The 8th cycle of America's Next Top Model kicked off last week and the competition is already fierce. In the season opener, Tyra and the gang trimmed the pool of contestants to just 13 finalists. 
 
The first girl to go was the ditzy Kathleen from Brooklyn, cut for not knowing how to portray an anti-fur protester in her shoot. We're sorry to see Kathleen go, because the girl managed to utter some serious gems in the first episode. When Nigel Barker (Fashion Photographer) commented in judging that Kathleen seemed lost in her photo, she replied in her wonderful Brooklyn accent, "I know, right?"  Love it.  If you're that dumb, maybe it's best to keep your mug shut.
 
So the race is on between the remaining 12 girls.  We love: Full-figured Whitney, the Dartmouth student who may catch some of the skinnier girls off guard.  Jael, the punk girl from Detroit with an exotic look.  And Samantha, the Alabama sweetheart with awesome bone structure.

Our nerves are already frayed by: Russian mail-order bride Natasha, who insists that models don't burp.   Renee, the hot mama with a chip on her shoulder.  And Sarah, the know-it-all photographer who says she's already been there and done that but can't manage to take a decent picture.
 
So, who will be out of the running towards becoming America's Next Top Model this week?  Barring any surprises, we think we just might be saying goodbye to the lackluster Diana.   The other girls are all far too interesting to let them go home just yet.
