Scott Weiland discharged from Velvet Revolver

The rumors have been confirmed: Scott Weiland has been kicked out of Velvet Revolver, according to a press release issued Tuesday. The other members of the band - Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner - had been hinting  at his removal for awhile after tensions surfaced within the band.

"This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," Slash said in the press release. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."

Weiland had recently announced onstage in Glasgow that it would be the "last tour" for the band. This false statement ticked off the rest of the band and resulted in a public war of words between Weiland and drummer Matt Sorum. An incident in which Weiland missed a gig at the Sundance Festival in January seems as if it may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Weiland is going to be reuniting with his old band, Stone Temple Pilots, who broke up in 2002. The group has scheduled a press conference in Los Angeles for April 7 where it is expected to announce a full tour of over 50 dates for the summer and fall in addition to the handful of festival shows they've already confirmed.

Don't waver Revolver fans, despite the latest turmoil, bassist Duff McKagan recently told the U.K.'s Journal Live, "Velvet Revolver is something that's going to be around for a long while yet."
