R&B singer, Sean Levert, died on Sunday night after collapsing in Cuyahoga County Jail. The son of R&B singer, Eddie Levert, of "The O'Jays" fame was in jail for failing to pay $80,000 in child support to the mother of his children. Levert had reportedly been suffering from hallucinations before his collapse. Wardens at the jail claim they had no knowledge of any preexisting medical conditions Levert may have suffered from. Toxicology reports should shed some light on the unexpected death. After yesterday’s tragic announcement of Sean Levert’s death, the family has released this statement to the media and to supporters:
“There are no words that can express what we are feeling today. There is no song that can capture the loss that we have in our hearts,” read a statement released Monday by the Levert family. “But we are humbly overwhelmed by the generous outpouring of love, condolences and support from the many friends, fans and admirers of our son Sean. At this very difficult time, we thank you for your prayers and hope you will understand our need for privacy.”
No funeral announcements have been announced at this time.
