No More Junkie Drama for Velvet Revolver

Due to his “increasingly erratic behavior,” singer Scott Weiland was booted from his own band this week. The other four members of Velvet Revolver issued a statement that said Scott was out of the band.

A public feud between Weiland and Velvet Revolver’s drummer already had cast doubt on the band’s future when the statement on behalf of Matt Sorum, Slash, Duff McKagan and Dave Kushner was issued under the headline “Velvet Revolver to Part Ways with Singer.”

“This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn’t 100% committed to either,” Slash was quoted as saying. “Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on.”

Scott battled a number of personal problems in recent years, including a heroin addiction, and multiple legal battles. He pleaded innocent last month to a charge of driving under the influence of drugs stemming from an arrest on a Los Angeles freeway ramp last year. Right now, Scott is free on $40,000 bail, and has a court hearing on the matter this Friday.
