Idol Results Are In: Antonella Gets the Axe!

A big night on American Idol, for sure – the announcement of the 12 finalists. Ryan Seacrest cuts to the chase quickly since there was a lot of ground to be covered during the show, including a “big announcement” and a performance from Carrie Underwood. So, here we go.

After the cheesy group number, Ryan began to bring people down to the stage. Shockingly (mostly because we didn’t see it coming), Phil Stacey gets to stay, but Jared doesn’t make it to the top 12. Not surprisingly (or maybe to some), Antonella is the next to be eliminated and she is speechless.

Ryan brings Sabrina and Haley to the stage and tells them one will make it, one won’t. Again, we’re shocked – and judging by Paula Abdul’s expression, she is too – Haley makes it through, Sabrina is leaving.

The "big announcement" that Ryan has been teasing this week? An effort called “Idol Gives Back” to raise money for needy children in Africa and the U.S. It was nice to see a sweeter, softer side of Simon Cowell as they showed footage of him and Ryan visiting children in Africa.

Finally, it’s down to Sundance and Sanjaya. Another big surprise – it’s the end of the road for Sundance. Say what?!

So, now that Antonella is out, will she take the Girls Gone Wild offer or be the next Playboy centerfold? Whichever one she chooses, we bet it's enough to make her mother proud.
