"Hosting the MTV Movie Awards is like a party, but without having to do beer runs in your mom's mini van," the alter ego of Shrek and Austin Powers, 45, says in a statement about his upcoming emcee duties – adding, "We do beer runs in Will Smith's four-story motor home."
The traditionally offbeat ceremony – which presents golden popcorn-box trophies for such categories as best screen kiss and best villain, in addition to best movie – will be broadcast live on MTV from Universal City in California, Sunday, June 1.
Survivor and The Apprentice producer Mark Burnett is the executive producer, and this will be the 17th annual presentation.
Nominees for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards will be announced next month. And for more Myers, his latest movie, The Love Guru, opens June 20.
