Body Buzz: Post Workout Snacks That Replenish

It doesn't matter if you work out in the morning or evening. Chances are, you probably grab a little snack before you go sweat it out. A snack before you work out helps give you energy so that you can give it all you've got. However, studies have shown that eating a snack AFTER you exercise is even more important. There is a 30-minute window of opportunity after you finish your routine during which you burn more calories. Additionally, eating a healthy snack after a sweaty session at the gym helps your body to repair muscle tissue and replenishes glycogen stores.

Here are a few healthy snack recommendations that Kristin Reisinger, MS, RD, a sports nutritionist and competitive figure athlete based in New Jersey, recommends to fuels your body, post-workout. (Reisinger recommends chasing each of these snacks with 8-12 ounces of water).
