"Global Metal" is the follow-up to 2006's groundbreaking documentary, "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey." The film follows metalhead/anthropologist/director Sam Dunn as he traverses the globe exploring metal culture in foreign countries from China to Iran. He interviews members of the metal community all over the world as well as documents the fascinating and diverse live shows he witnesses. Each different country has its own unique metal flavor and style, and Dunn will dig deep to uncover it.
As can be seen in the trailer, some of the illustrious artists interviewed in the documentary include Slayer's Tom Araya, Cavalera Conspiracy's Max Cavalera, and Metallica's Lars Ulrich.
Directors Sam Dunn and Scott McFadyen
"Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" was the best documentary on the genre that I have ever seen. As far as I know, it was the first metal documentary to be given a major budget and theatrical release. From the looks of this trailer, it would appear that Dunn and co-director Scott McFadyen are looking to raise the bar even further this time around.
According to Blabbermouth, the film is expected to see a September release.
What genres would you like to see explored around the world?
