Judas Priest Explore New Territory With 'Nostradamus'

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? The grandfathers of metal, Judas Priest, are about to release an album unlike any they've made before. Nostradamus will be Priest's first concept album — an exploration of the bizarre existence of a famous 16th-century prophet of the same name.

"Nostradamus contains new frontiers explored and defined. The sense of adventure and the journey we undertook bringing the man's life alive with metal was a real labor of love," said singer Rob Halford in a press release.

Priest have been around a long time and have made a lot of music, but apparently still feel as if they have broken new ground with the album. "The Nostradamus album — above all others — is perhaps the one I'm most proud of," added guitarist Glenn Tipton. "Whilst in essence and character still very much Judas Priest, it has afforded the opportunity to explore areas of classical and operatic dimensions that the band normally wouldn't. As a guitarist and writer it has inspired me to greater heights and opened new doors to intrigue and passion."

Completists will be happy to know that Priest's marketing team has been working overtime, preparing not only a Deluxe Edition of the release, but a Super Deluxe Edition as well! The Deluxe Edition will come housed in a 48-page hardbound book, while the omnipotent Super Deluxe Edition will include triple vinyl, the double CD, an expanded booklet and a poster. What are you waiting for!? Pick up the phone right now! Sorry, I got a little carried away...

  • An excellent epic from a band that usually shoots from the hip with cutting edge metal
loaded with power chords with an array of artistic design melodies interweaved topped
with incredible layers and ranges of vocal
    drones howls and of course...
