Janet speculated in an interview with E! Online's Marc Malkin that she was receiving the award from GLAAD based on the work she's done to combat AIDS, as well as her ongoing support for the organization. Additionally, she talked about one of my favorite subjects of all time, drag queens.
The singer said that she's encountered impersonators of her that embodied her even better than she did herself, that after watching a particularly impressive performance with some of her female background dancers, she said, "We've gotta pull up because these bitches are hitting it. They're giving so much femininity and we look like boys onstage."
Thank God nobody gives enough of a to do an impersonation of me. The last thing I need is to realize in an even more pronounced fashion just how sadly I'm missing the mark of appearing feminine.
