Another From the Big Shocker File: Amy Winehouse Arrested

Amy Winehouse was released from police custody Saturday morning after being arrested on Friday for Simple Assault and spending the night at the police station.  She was not charged but was given a caution which means the incident remains on her record.  Maybe she could have shared the cell with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.  The he wouldn't have to trade pictures of her for drugs, she would have been right there!

When she arrived, a police spokesman told PEOPLE, a doctor determined she was "in no fit state" to be interviewed, so she was kept in a cell overnight. Once a doctor gave the go-ahead, she was questioned Saturday morning about a street brawl in which she allegedly attacked a man in the early hours of Wednesday.  Think "no fit state" means she was high?  Hmmmm, toughie.

Another police statement and one from Amy is after the jump.

"A 24-year-old woman today received a caution for common assault and has been released from custody," a police spokesman said.  British police do not name suspects unless they are charged.

Amy's spokesperson said,  "Amy was fully co-operative with inquiries and apologized for the incident. She thanked the police for their professional handling of the matter. There will be no further action taken. Amy is looking forward to continuing her work on new music in the studio."

And get this, before Amy went to the police station, she spent the morning with her goddaughter after picking her up from school.  Who let this women around a child?  The police thought she was not sober enough to be questioned and she had just been responsible for a young girl?  Let's hope she stopped at home on the way to the police station and hit it before going to the police station.  Why do I not think she has the right mindset to NOT be high when hanging out with a kid?

Note:  To Amy Winehouse's goddaughter's parents:  Unsupervised contact is not such a good idea.  One can be found neglectful (at least in the US), for allowing an inappropriate caretaker to supervise a child.
