De la Fuente had hurt his arm Monday night while performing the samba with partner Cheryl Burke, and earned the night’s lowest combined score (46/60). He was evaluated by a physician the next morning, but at the request of producer Conrad Green, all cast and crew were asked not to discuss de la Fuente’s condition until after the telecast.
