Sarah Silverman says she’s not having kids w/ Kimmel, forgets the 2 he already has
Sarah Silverman tells People Magazine in an interview that she’s not marrying her boyfriend of five years, fellow comedian Jimmy Kimmel, because she doesn’t “want the government involved in our love.” And on the issue of children, she says she’s not planning on any in the immediate future, but that they might adopt eventually. She says that they spend their down time watching their favorite shows and listening to the radio like a lot of couples:

“I’ll be honest, we have it good,” Silverman tells PEOPLE of her five-year relationship with the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

But don’t expect the couple to hit the altar anytime soon.

“I don’t want the government involved in our love,” says Silverman, 37, who’s headlining a show benefiting Project A.L.S. in Manhattan next Friday, May 9. (Visit for tickets.) “When my friends get married I think it’s romantic, I cry, whatever,” she says. “But it’s not for me.”

“Jimmy and I spend our mornings and nights together,” Silverman says. “We set our alarms an hour earlier in the morning just so we can lie in bed and listen to Howard Stern, and at night we’re watching Lost or 24.

As to whether or not kids are in their future, time will tell, she says: “I might adopt, but we’re going to wait. If you’re going to have kids, you need to have time to give them undivided attention.”

At least she realizes that they’re involved with their careers and don’t have time for children. The thing is, Kimmel, 40, already has two children with his ex-wife of 14 years, Gina. They have a son and a daughter aged 14 and 12. Kimmel was married to Gina when he hooked up with Silverman after knowing her for years on the comedy circuit.

It’s pretty telling the Silverman didn’t mention Kimmel’s kids with his ex wife when she was asked if she was considering them. Maybe she didn’t think or whatever, but if she did spend any time with his kids, she might say something like: “Jimmy’s kids are great and we have a lot of fun with them. We’re waiting to have our own.” You have to wonder if Jimmy’s ex wife even lets him see his kids given the way that everything went down.
