"We have been worried about Gary for some time," a member of the CBS drama's production team told the Chicago Sun-Times. "It's just a shame that he wasn't able to get the help he needs before this happened."
According to the report, Dourdan's friends on the show reportedly discussed staging an intervention – though they never followed through.
"After this, I think there will be a concerted effort to convince Gary to get help – before he kills himself," another CSI staffer told the Sun-Times.
Also in question: the actor's future on his show. According to Entertainment Weekly reports, the actor was reportedly scheduled to exit the show after this season and appear for guest spots next season.
Dourdan, 41, was arrested on April 28 just after 5 a.m. when a Palm Springs, Calif., patrol officer spotted the actor in his car, parked on the wrong side of the street and apparently sleeping. He was found in possession of suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and prescription pills. Dourdan posted $5,000 bail and was released.
His arraignment is scheduled for May 28.
