Spidy's Tobey Maguire, Entourage's Kevin Connolly, Rocky's Sly Stallone and the Beautiful Brooke Shields attend the De La Hoya- Forbes match last night!

Kevin Connolly, Tobey Maguire, Brooke Shields and Rocky himself Sylvester Stallone all came out for a night of Boxing last night (May 3, 2008) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.  They were treated to a night of great boxing, which included the Oscar De La Hoya and Steve Forbes junior middleweight bout.

In what was little more than a tuneup for a much bigger fight, Oscar De La Hoya kicked off his retirement tour Saturday by beating a game but overmatched Steve Forbes in a 150-pound nontitle bout.

De La Hoya (39-5) put on a show for his hometown fans, who came out in big numbers to cheer him on against a fighter whose biggest claim to fame was losing in the final of the “Contender” reality series. He did not disappoint, battering around the smaller Forbes (33-6) in taking an easy 12-round decision in his first fight in a year.

The win set up a September rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr., who beat De La Hoya by split decision last May.

De La Hoya won all 12 rounds on one judge’s scorecard and 11  on the other two. He bloodied Forbes’s face but failed to knock out an opponent who had never been stopped in 38 fights.

“I was hoping I’d stop him or knock him out,” De La Hoya said. “I’m a little disappointed.”

  • Tobey Maguire and Kevin Connolly are both great. These super nice guys go against all Hollywood stereotypes. They are nice guys who had success early and never let it go to their heads. They both do a lot for the environment and charity.
