I've never understood decorative hats. In part, I think, because there's no hat on earth that will fit properly on my own over-sized head, but still. I get wanting to keep your head warm or block the sun or whatever and not looking like a total tool while you're doing that, so the appeal of the nice hat is not a mystery to me, but sticking something fancy up there just for decoration seems to defy, in the most basic terms, Coco Chanel's maxim that less is more. Also, they just block views for taller people. Didn't Sesame Street do a whole segment about that once? It's a menace to society.
Yes, I know that this particular hat is a Philip Treacy, and that he has decorated some of the most important heads in the world, but that doesn't make it any less perplexing for me. Why put what looks to be a mouldy, albeit glittery, cow patty on your head, and top that with a shrubbery? Complete with insect life? 'Splain me this, pleez?
Otherwise, I think that Sarah Jessica Parker looked quite lovely walking the red carpet at the London premiere of the SATC movie. She looks cold, and maybe a touch more green than I'm used to seeing on red carpets (resist Kermit joke resist Kermit joke) - and, of course, THAT HAT - but still: loverly, all things considered.
She just needs to lose the plants and bugs. That's all.
