The singer beat Kelly Clarkson in the new AOL Television hitlist, picking up 54 percent of the vote from 1.3 million fans who took part.
Clarkson was a distant second with 26 percent of the vote.
Fresh off her second consecutive win as Top Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Carrie Underwood will return to the American Idol stage on Wednesday night to perform on the season 7 show finale.
The former Idol winner will sing her smash hit “Last Name.” Underwood is currently headlining her Carnival Ride tour with special guest Josh Turner. Her debut album, Some Hearts, was recently certified 7x-Platinum, becoming the best-selling solo female country debut in RIAA history. Some Hearts has also surpassed all other releases as the all-time U.S. top-selling album by any American Idol contestant.
