In his award acceptance speech, he says “This one is really actually special because long before I had a hit record, the fans always came to the shows. And I want to thank you guys for voting and for being there for me.”
Howoever, over the backstage Chesney was criticizing the ACM for allowing fans to vote for the awards after winning the top award.
Chesney told reporters backstage, “They took it from what the award really represents into a sweepstakes to see who can push people’s buttons the hardest on the Internet. It’s complete disrespect of the artist, what they’ve lowered it to. It really diminishes the integrity of the music that we’re making. And I can say that because I won.”
Ironically, Chesney would have gone home empty handed if weren’t for his fans that are pushing those buttons on the internet.
Apparently Kenny played along with the industry by filling his MySpace page with a large banner saying “bring it home for KC” that is linked to the academy’s online page and messages from fans lower on the page.
What a big fat hypocrite is that?
Ps. It’s not right to do that but please vote for me!

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are co-hosting this year's Academy Awards. Who do you think will be more entertaining?
Alec Baldwin! Have you seen "30 Rock"? Genius!
Neither...I am not the biggest fan of these guys! Bring back Hugh Jackman!
Steve Martin! I have a feeling he'll bring his banjo!
