We love a good wedding, especially when it comes out of left field. Like Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's recent nuptials, or the even more stealth marriage between uber-pregnant Jessica Alba and Cash Warren. It seems like everyone lately is hopping on the super secret wedding train.
Celebs usually try to keep the details about their big days under wraps, trying to minimize the guaranteed paparazzi frenzy, of course. Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz's wedding fits in that category… moving from being engaged to suddenly putting together a massive flower-filled affair. Tongues are wagging now, though, that Mr. and Mrs. Wentz got paid out big time for exclusive photos. Which makes it seem less like they were trying to avoid a photog showdown on their big day and more like they wanted to protect their $1.4 million payday.
But, some celebs genuinely want their weddings to be private. Like Jessica and Cash, who reportedly didn't even invite their families to the courthouse ceremony. Jess's own brother was surprised by the news. We're guessing the good-looking twosome isn't expecting any presents.
The stealth wedding isn't new, though. Adora-couple Gwenyth Paltrow and Chris Martin also managed to keep their nuptial under wraps, getting hitched sans family in a secret ceremony. Even ill-fated duo Britney Spears and Kevin Federline managed to pull a fast one on their wedding day – tricking guests into thinking they were attending an engagement party for the couple. Apparently, in Hollywood, everyone likes a surprise ending.
What do you think of the celebrity secret wedding trend? Is it for real or so they can make a deal?
