Blake admitted that on June 20, 2006, he assaulted James King, the landlord of Macbeth's pub in London. He also admitted he offered him money to withdraw his allegations and leave the country.
Blake will not be sentenced until the trial of his co-defendants are over, in about a month. The judge wants to sentence everyone together. Three years in prison is a typical sentence for grievous bodily harm, according to U.K. sentencing guidelines. He also could receive a fine and/or more time in jail for the perverting the course of justice charge.
Amy was not present when her husband pleaded guilty, although she had been in court two times during that week while pretrial arguments were going on. "She promised him she'd be here every day but it just depends on how bad she's been the night before," a family friend told PEOPLE. "She is obsessional about him. She does the same thing about visiting him in prison. She means to go and then she has a bad night and turns up late and they don't let her in. They don't mess around there [at London's Pentonville Prison]. This isn't Amy's biggest problem. She's a smart girl and she's such a great talent and she's strong," the friend said. "Nobody can help her at this point until she decides to help herself."
In other Amy Winehouse news, she has apologized for a video of her singing racial slurs that can be seen online. Amy told paparazzi outside her home on Monday she was sorry and that "I don't want to play anything down, but I'm the least racist person going."
If you don't have the stomach for the video, and it was hard for me to watch it, it was taken by Blake sometime before his arrest late last year and shows Amy and another woman sitting on a couch, singing a string of racial epithets to the tune of the "Head, Shoulders Knees and Toes." Now, try to get that song out of your head! Blake, holding the camera, is heard encouraging them to sing it, insisting afterward he "wasn't recording it ... I swear on my life." The video goes on to show Winehouse passed out on the couch, and you can see drugs and drug paraphernalia everywhere.
