Remember the grizley Sharon Tate Helter Skelter murders that shocked America - and made a martyr/hero of Roman Polanski (until people found out about his predilection for little girls). The Manson gang really wanted to kill the late Beach Boy drummer Dennis Wilson and Doris Day's son, record producer Terry Melcher, because Manson's record deal fell through.
Manson thought Wilson and Melcher lived in the houses the gang broke into. Another excellent reason to say no to drugs.

Of course there are also those who say that the Manson gang was sent to collect on a drug debt - Polanski didn't pay his dealer for some coke. Polanski was the real target but wasn't at home when the deed went down. So Sharon and her friends paid the price, while Polanski survived, like the human roach he is. Either way that piece of human sleaze makes Bill Clinton look like Pope Benedict 16!

Our perception of someone is sometimes more about us than them. We can't hide what sort of a person we really are (or what would be the point in T Shirts and bumper stickers?), it's just that most of the time, people can't tell.
