Robert Downey Jr. is in negotiations to star in 'Cowboys and Aliens,' a film about a traditional Old West battle that gets interrupted by a spaceship crashing into the prairie in Arizona, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The DreamWorks/Universal Pictures collaboration, to be produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, has been in development at several studios over the past ten years, the Hollywood Reporter said.
Downey, currently starring in in the highly successful superhero flick 'Iron Man,' will reportedly play a former Union Army gunslinger in 'Cowboys and Aliens.'
The story draws a parallel between the American imperialist drive to conquer Indians with advanced technology and the aliens' assault on humans who join together to survive the invaders' attack, the trade publication said.

Robert Pattinson...hot or not?
