"American Idol" winner DAVID COOK will start recording his debut album over the summer with an eye for a fall release, reports Daily Variety.
The 25-year-old champ will cut the album while on the road with the "American Idols Live! Tour 2008," which kicks off July 1 in Glendale, AZ (last year's winner JORDIN SPARKS' hometown) -- and hits such locales as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Baltimore and Philadelphia before ending Sept. 13 in Tulsa, OK.
Cook signed with 19 Recordings/RCA Records and is currently burning up the digital songs chart with 17 tracks in the top 100, a record for a solo artist. His first single, "The Time Of My Life," sold 236,000 digital tracks on iTunes in four days, sending it to No. 1 -- the best single debut of any "American Idol" since the second season.
