SHARON STONE will no longer appear in Chinese ads for CHRISTIAN DIOR amid controversy over her remarks that the recent earthquake may have been bad karma for China's treatment of Tibet.
When asked about the natural disaster that left 88,000 people dead or missing, Stone replied, "I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else," she added. "And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?"
Her comments sparked outrage in China.
According to the Associated Press, Dior's Shanghai office released a statement saying, "In light of the negative reaction that Sharon Stone's inappropriate remarks have triggered, Dior China has decided to immediately cancel and stop any advertisements, marketing campaigns and commercial activities associated with Sharon Stone."
