Tiger Woods Was Glad Wife & Daughter Saw Him Win

In one of the epic duels in golf history, Tiger Woods won his third U.S. Open beating Rocco Mediate yesterday afternoon in sudden death, which followed 18 playoff holes. Despite the fierce competition between Woods and Mediate — the two are good friends and hugged on the final hole. Tiger went over to the victory ceremony, and hugged wife Elin and held his baby daughter, Sam, who turns one on June 18th — and attended her first Open. This was a bitter sweet moment, last time Tiger won was in 2002, when his his father was still alive,

It’s unreal. I understand why my dad was so emotional when I won and I brought it back to him. I understand, now that I’m a father, how he felt. To have my daughter there and Elin there, it means so much more when you do it. Obviously, it’s not Father’s Day, but close enough.”
