"Star Trek" crew-man George Takei was one of the first in line as hundreds of eager same-sex couples rushed to a West Hollywood auditorium today to acquire legal marriage licenses for the first time. The historic occasion was all captured by ET cameras. See it here!
Takei and his longtime partner, Brad Altman, have been together for more than 21 years. They arrived to a throng of reporters and were first in line to pay $70 for a license during a ceremony to honor same-sex couples.
Public marriage officials around California opened up their doors today to gay couples after the Supreme Court struck down a ban on same-sex marriages.
On his blog, George wrote: "We are feeling a combination of exhaustion and exhilaration after sharing the morning with hundreds of other couples taking this historic opportunity. Although we were put in the media spotlight because of my 'Star Trek' fame, we felt one with everyone's joy on this landmark occasion."
