British TV chef Gordon Ramsay prompted an inquiry by Australian legislators into offensive language after using a four-letter expletive more than 80 times during one of his shows, Reuters reports.

The foul-mouthed British chef's antics on the U.S.-based "Hells Kitchen" show include shouting and swearing at his aspiring chef contestants and sometimes throwing kitchenware to get their attention.

In Australia, where Ramsay's programs are ratings winners but have prompted outrage by conservative groups, the Senate is urging new ways for stations to warn viewers of offensive content and deal with complaints. The Catholic Church has called for his shows to be scrapped or shown at a later time.
