News of a "Gossip Girl" spin-off series, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter this morning may be premature, according to the show's creator/executive producer Josh Schwartz, who told Entertainment Weekly:
"The books do have a spin-off, but we have no plans right now for a TV spin-off," Schwartz told the magazine's Web site. "Everyone is focused on making season two as good as possible -- that's our goal right now. Not saying never, just very premature."
The trade paper reported this morning that producers of the popular The CW show hoped to expand the series, either giving co-star Taylor Momsen her own show or by introducing a new character to "Gossip Girl" in the fall who would then get a spin-off.
In following up on the story, a spokesperson for The CW told ET that the network had no comment at this time.
