Simon Cowell - From the Judge’s Seat to the Producer’s Chair

Famous American Idol judge and big-time recored exec. and TV producer Simon Cowell is heading for the big screen… or at least a film he’s producing is.

Most know the edgy, hard to please Cowell from his role as “the mean judge” on the hit talent show, American Idol on Fox.  But Cowell has been discovering and producing music acts for many years, and he’s developed several shows for television.  This time, though, he’s taking his creation, “One Chance”, to the silver screen.

“One Chance” is a rags-to-riches story about the real life of Paul Potts, an opera singer who took one last chance at pursuing a career in music by going on the British talent show “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2007.  Riddled with bad luck, Potts finally made a name for himself by winning the show and will soon produce a globally released album.

The film will be a dramedy (comedy-drama) that recalls his steps through the talent show and the bad luck prior.  It will be written by Justin Zackham (”Bucket List”), but a release date has not yet been set.

Cowell is also in the process of developing a scripted tale about a reality music show called “Star Struck” that has not been set up at a studio yet.
